First Blog Post

Welcome!

This is the first (and potentially only) blog on this site, but a little background:

I write. I always thought I’d be an author but it took me a long, LONG time to learn how to write. Even when I managed to write that first book, it was still pretty bad (or absolutely terrible, same thing).

I’ve written and published about 48 romances (some of which won awards and everything!) but when I switched gears to YA, I had to learn how to write a story all over again. Genre expectations, reader expectations, narrative conventions–all of these things were radically different between teen and adult readers.

One of the things I’m going to be doing in the future is talk about writing, how anyone can write. We all have a lot we want to say and figuring out the best way to communicate is a long-term goal of mine. That’s why I love to do presentations and chats with writers at any stage in their writing journey.

Visit the School Visits page for more info on presentations I can age up or down for students, libraries and writing groups!
